Have the ERCs caused much increase in Sam's wind fields? He still looks pretty small to me.

The IR presentation continues to improve. Sam is finally intensifying near a peak intensity when recon is in the storm.

The next update should have the eye pass from the plane.

Unfortunately, the barometer on AF307 isn’t working. We’ll have to wait for center drops to know Sam’s pressure for each pass.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Wow, I hope recon can stay near Sam for 3 or 4 passes (3 hours) or something like that, because Sam is rapidly improving on IR and visual. I think the next ~12 hours is gonna be that peak that we have been waiting for the last few days.

Rough estimate based on a regression from the last mission. Doesn't take humidity into account though.

They seem to have circled around the inside of the eye which is a bit odd.

Maybe to get a 'perfect' eye dropsonde since they don't have a working barometer?

Recon got 130 kt winds at flight level, willing to bet Sam weakened last night but is likely restrengthening given IR and visible satellite imagery. Next couple of passes may come out stronger.
