Indeed, not too long after he posted that, a new burst of convection just popped up at the star. Preparing for possible tornadoes here in Valdosta later today.

Radar is showing that fred is heading in the direction of the area near Destin, FL.

Wow, looks like Fred is giving it one last shot before landfall. I think there's a good chance this will make landfall as a high-end TS, many people might be caught by susprise since until recently Fred was almost dead.

According to NDBC that buoy is about 85 miles away from Fred.

52 kt gusts and that's not even in the eyewall. Is there a chance Fred could make landfall as a cat 1? Yesterday I would've said it was near-impossible, but now I'm not sure.

We will find out in just a few short minutes from the recon how quickly is strengthening.

Not downplaying a TS at all because I know this will cause hardship for some people, but from a pure weather watcher perspective a strong TS/Cat 1 are the best storms to just watch.

I agree but unfortunately the ground is already saturated in Panama City which will equal a lot of trees down.
