Yes and the somewhat persistent west wobbles could allow it to go either right over or just to the west of Houma- putting them squarely on the dirty side. Could even have some implications for BR up the road if it stays west of the forecast path.

Im more suprised they stayed

Yeah, that's what flabbergasts me. That anyone would have stayed in Grand Isle of all places with unstable buildings and all this advance warning of a very strong storm.

Was it wise .... no
Is it what logical people would do .... no
But it is easy to sit afar and judge, but we honestly do not know what is happening within their lives that made them choose to stay.
Not defending the decision, but not going to pass judgment either.

I will pass some judgement, because apparently some are being asked to be rescued now which puts emergency personnel in danger. I pass judgment not because of their risk to self, but the risk their decision inflicts upon others to get them out.

Expect sustained hurricane force winds very shortly in the Grand Isle area with that secondary intense band moving over.

That is a shame. I’m hoping for the best for them. It’s very tragic.

STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE

as with all landfalls we'll have random reports and discussions of judgement. It doesn't add to the conversation and some of the information is bogus. Check your sources please.

This will likely rotate and get onshore once Ida makes landfall.
Heads up NOLA and MS coast

We actually just had a tornado warning here in Escambia Co, FL.

As a father of a first responder, I was very glad the public officials, when faced with the same situation, told the public the first responders would NOT go after them if they could not get to them and out of harms way before it was too dangerous.

So beautiful but so deadly. This is the part of watching these storms where I hate it. Knowing people will be greatly affected by it.

Getting very rough on John Humphress's remote setup in Grand Isle.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
