Yup, looks like Port Fourchon will either get the eye or the northeast eyewall. Regardless, this is going to be a significant economic event for the United States as far as oil refining capacity and gasoline prices.....

My eyes may be deceiving me, or it could just be structural changes to the eye, but man it looked like it hit the brakes in the last few frames.

Satellite and radar are improving again. May be trying to squeak out one last attempt at intensification before the ewrc locks in the intensity.

Dropsonde was 135 knots on the surface, but remember these are instantaneous winds.

VDM from AF305 shows the eye has contracted from 20 nautical miles to 16 nautical miles.

Bumping this, but the eye has shrunk from 24 miles pre and post Cuba to 16 now.

Got yesterday's crow pie baking in the oven.
Going to light up a fat cuban stogie once she makes landfall.
Prayers and stay safe everyone.

AF303 is getting close. Fingers crossed they don’t have any problems that force them to abort at the last minute.

Prayers for everyone in Louisiana about to bear the full fury of Ida.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.
