Bretons Sound is showing surge over 16'. It looks like the Mississippi River might have significant surge too, even though the mouth is a bit east of the eye.

Shell Beach, LA is near major flood levels with 6'+ of surge reported.

It's going to be a long day.

Edit...6' not 9' at Shell Beach

My eyes may be deceiving me, or it could just be structural changes to the eye, but man it looked like it hit the brakes in the last few frames.

Nope, I'm seeing no evidence of that. Forward motion seems unchanged best i can tell

Had a hard time sleeping overnight. Finally caught up here. This looks like a major crisis is about to go underway! Feels strange that you can do nothing but watch it unfold. Scared for Grand Isle too…

Ida appears to have two eyewalls now. An inner and outer one. The outer one hitting Grand Isle now with 52 mph sustained and gusts to 74 mph.

A bit of good news. I'd seen reports that 9-1-1- was down in parts of New Orleans. It's now functioning again.

Yeah, seeing the next few frames load it looks like it was more of a cyclonic loop than anything.

I’m no expert, just intrigued by these storms. Also happen to be in its relative path.
