You know, there will come a day when the NHC's forecasts are so good there'll be nothing left to debate. Both exciting and sad...

Grand Isle roofs supposedly getting peeled off, yet water still rising. I just can't comprehend this being survivable. Just gut-wrenchingly sad

I heard that, too. It’s heartbreaking. No other words for it.
My heart dropped when he said that. It’s just awful.

that could cause its own problems, they have a function that could ripple worse issues if they were not present.
Learning how to build and live in those coastal areas would be good. We have seen houses standing when all others around were destroyed

Some towns to be in prayer for.... I know we have a board member posting from Cut Off. Praying for protection.

That would be great, but makes you wonder if they had that tech to destroy, they more than likely would have the tech to create such

Kudos to NHC, excellent track forecast and the bullish intensity forecast definitely came to fruition. Impressed with the data we're still getting in the core of this thing; it'll be very well sampled but at the cost of permanent geographic rearrangement and incredible devastation. It's surreal and terrifying seeing this happen live.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

kevin wrote:Ida becomes the most intense landfall in Louisiana since historic records began in 1851. Equal in terms of wind speed to Laura and 1856 Last Island (=strength), but with a lower pressure of 930 mbar (=intensity).
Actually, Katrina made landfall in LA with a lower MSLP (920 mb). So Ida is the second most intense on record in LA, but tied with 1856/Laura as the strongest.

Changing direction, to more northerly, I suspect

Police chief in Grand Isle was able to text TWC. Everyone in the police bunker is still ok. There is 4 feet of water outside, but none inside.
