Given the highly asymmetric structure, I personally question whether 65-kt winds are actually present at the surface. Actual MSW are likely lower than 65 kt.

CAPE infeed is backing off some.
Maybe now a low to mid Cat 1.

Even if the 11am upgrade is questionable, Henri was still almost certainly a hurricane earlier this week before shear picked up. I remember someone posted a satellite pass that found 65 kt winds when an eye was present on visible satellite imagery.

Also, what the heck is AF302 doing?

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Just woke up and checking in -- storm looks a lot healthier right now. The ingredients are there, we'll see what it can do

Rain rate has significantly diminished.
Doubt it gets more than a low Cat 1.

Looking at this upper divergence product and I'm thinking... It won't have problems in the convection department

The time to watch for any big strengthing will be when it crosses the Gulf Stream. Very hot moving water can do a lot for a storm.Image

Agree, lets see if it helps it when it tracks over the gulf stream.

new towers are firing near the center. lets see if they can wrap around the center. Shear is abating but the towers need to overpower the feeder band to really get the storm cooking.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

I put the center near 35.3N / 71.65W, which is a good 30-40 miles east of the NHC's forecast. May swing out enough to the east to miss Long Island before the NW curve.

Looks like Henri core is being starved of moisture. Appears weaker than earlier today.....MGC
