What a weird structure. The feeder band has become the starver band, it seems. That hasn’t stopped Henri from developing a mid-level eye. It could be slightly stronger (986-989mb and 70 kt) when recon arrives.

Likes like an eye to me.
We'll have to see if it maintains.

Convection around the LLC doesn’t look deep.

Higher latitude storms can open them much easier with the stronger coriolis

Sure there is a dry slot, but not that dry

Agree, but the lack of deep convection around the eye/LLC not a clear sign Henri will get much stronger at the moment.

i seem to get this wrong a lot but doesn't looks so great right now to me...looks like it is being sheared from the west or maybe some dry air screwing it up?

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

Agree, current weak convection near center is not a sign that it's going to intensity quickly. Note that the position is east of the 15Z NHC track. New consensus shifted to the eastern tip of Long Island, about 30 miles east of last NHC forecast. Look for them to nudge the track east at 21Z.

It looks well aligned, so in my opinion it's how quickly new convection can build an eyewall. Not a lot of time left, fortunately.

If this storm was in the gulf people would be clamoring about RI, and yet it's probably in an even better environment than the gulf

Its going to be in the very favorable environment a short time,I think if it was
a little better organised at this point it would have a better chance at RI.

Upper air environment is always a big part of RI, but you normally don’t see RI in Henri’s spot b/c there is no comparing August boiling GOM SST’s vs mild mid Atlantic SST’s.
