Of course the barometer on this AF plane also isn’t working.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Good luck, Luis. Hope everyone will be ok.

Unless it's equipped with dropsondes, we may never know on the pressure of the storm.

Hoping those in Puerto Rico stay safe.
Guadeloupe recorded one death and extensive flooding from the heavy rainfall.

It looks like that eye like feature was nothing but a dry slot that got entrained into the CoC, not much above weak TS force winds in the SE quadrant found, we''ll see what the dropsonde shows about its pressure.

Either a mesovortex or the center was found at 16.3N 64.7W - at least at 10,000 feet aloft.

Both microwave and radar showed there is indeed an eyewall, but I won’t disagree with the possibility that some dry air snuck in. This is the strongest Fiona’s SW quadrant has been; higher winds could be in the NE quad.

So far nothing supports higher than 45kt, looks like Fiona's weakened since the last mission.

Re: ATL: FIONA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
There were some tropical storm force winds found south of the center on the weak side of the circulation.
Yellow flags at flight level and pretty consistent TS strength wind peaks in the southeast Quadrant.
Recon didn't have their pressure recordings so couldn't be sure there is a well organized center based on pressure profile.

8pm called it as 16.6N 64.9W, and they waited until the last possible second to send that advisory.

It seems like that the NHC has been getting the Extrapolated pressure readings, but we haven't been able to.

I don't think it's dry air that is the problem here, it could be the DMIN since the sun is setting.

Despite the lackluster convection tonight, this is the best Fiona’s structure has been all day. It now has a focused and stacked LLC, as well as a developing eyewall on radar and microwave. Its IR appearance is also quite close to what the 18z HWRF showed for this time.
