Franklin’s not getting enough love, clearly on its way now to being an impressive hurricane

Franklin looks like it has been suffering from dry air but the core of the storm remained wrapped but now should improve.

I think it’s been undergoing an EWRC. Recon this morning found a much larger eye (22nm) open to the north and a double wind maxima. The IR and visible presentation does suggest there are multiple eyewalls. I haven’t seen any super recent microwave passes to confirm this, though.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

BT and advisory intensity don't match, which is odd

Looks like the dry air & EWRC combo is nearing completion:

Is it moving west? Thought it was expected to go due north and OTS after its weird little eastward jog following Hispaniola.

We have a buzzsaw. Only seventeen pages because it won't landfall anywhere. Frightening if we get another hurricane of this caliber heading for a US landfall.

The post would have likely been a lot more active had Idalia not existed.

Eye drop 965/6. Definitely a solid drop although winds haven't really increased

Should be picturesque tomorrow and the next couple of days. Hopefully stays away from land and pretty satellite images.

Also is racking up ACE units. May get to 15 as it has 8.2 now.

Current forecast would yield an additional 15, I could see a total of ~25-30 units for this system.

Franklin really shifting into gear now. Could be a major by 5am!

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
