If there's ANY silver lining, it's that I'm so glad this is such a small storm. Yikes, can you imagine if this was as large as Helene?

Hurricanes have a weird way of avoiding land if they can. Beryl refused to make landfall on Jamaica as it grazed on by, and it did nothing to weaken it. And Jamaica is heavily mountainous, where the Yucatan is flat.

Yeah same. Funny enough, I too have had a story concept in the works about anthropomorphized hurricanes/beings that control hurricanes, and they're more just misguided and hurting than anything else.

Do not take anything I say seriously as a form of meteorological prediction. I am not a meteorologist; I don't think being in law school translates to any special knowledge. I am just a somewhat bullish amateur watcher.

More like Katrina. Katrina was a monster 5 in size. This is more compact and intense then Helene was.

Possibly 915 mb Category 5 Hurricane in October..welcome back 2005! This is why everyone had their expectations so high pre-season!! Ive never tracked anything like this from start to finish!

Could be potentially a bit lower, HDOB got cut off with 18kt FL/46kt SFMR

Thanks...I actually wondered for years what they meant before I found some info that explained it in a way I could figure it out. Oh, and the only stupid questions...are the ones you don't ask!

I know the SFMR is wonky, but using the pressure drop as a proxy, I would estimate the winds are now 150 kt.
