This seems like a major hurricane run for Florida, let’s hope and pray this doesn’t pull something of this magnitude since a lot of those coastal areas are still cleaning up from Helene

That's depicting one hell of a small tight core

On this run so far it seems to be heading towards Tampa Bay. We shall see.

Hopefully the smaller size would lower the surge, but that's a nasty angle of approach.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

The way this season has been going I wouldn't be surprised if the 0Z GFS verified. Florida been the punching bag this year......MGC

Unless this were to unexpectedly turn into an Andrew or Charley I think the landfall would seem to limit wind damage to a fairly localized area. The much smaller core would be apt to weaken far quicker then Helene (especially if a slow mover) too.

A small hurricane up against a front is going to have a relatively high pressure vs wind, right? That GFS essentially sez Charley for Tampa? Or more properly, a Charley-sized Ian?

Of course the fear being that such a small tight core could deepen pretty fast as well and turn Tampa into Cutler Ridge a la Andrew 2.0

Don’t think your getting a major in 2-3 days or whatever the gfs is showing there. That looks silly.
