Orlando airport reporting gust of 62 mph- impressive for being over 160 miles away from the storm center. Been getting steady gusts above 50 mph for the last 3-4 hours.

We have at least 4 in town rivers and creeks at or above flood stage
North and South Forks of Peachtree Creek as well as Peachtree Creek (where they merge)
Nancy Creek in Buckhead
Chattahoochee near Vinings is at flood stage and rising
There are going to be records broken tomorrow

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Re: ATL: HELENE - Hurricane - Discussion
We are getting the worst squall since early this morning in DeSoto County, winds pretty hard (about 35 - 40 mph) heavy rain and heavier gusts.
Crazy since the storm is well NORTHWEST of us! Nothing much as it passed closer to us earlier in the day! I just now did tell hubs we probably want to get lanterns ready. I wouldn't be surprised if we (finally) were to lose power.

Yet another storm in this part of the basin that strengthens all the way to landfall.

About to rival Helene 1988 in wind speed - except with a landfall this time instead of an OTS adventure

Radar velocities seem to support an even higher intensity. I'm seeing velocities up to 145 kt at about 8,000-9,000 feet.

Most likely. Had some internal issues yesterday that had to mix out. I wouldn't want to be in ATL. Not sure Atlanta can handle the winds they are about to receive let alone the water.

Getting quite a bit of gusty weather on the backside of the storm here in eastern Hillsborough. Almost no rain, but very windy. Almost as much wind as the max at closest approach a few hours ago.
