System Information: POST-TROPICAL DEPRESSION TALIAH

Maximum winds (averaged over 10 minutes) estimated at sea: 75 km/h.

Estimated maximum gusts at sea: 100 km/h.

Estimated pressure at center: 997 hPa.

Position on February 18 at 4 p.m. local time: 31.2 South / 76.4 East.

Distance from the Reunion coast: 2325 km in the sector: EAST-SOUTH-EAST

Distance from Mayotte: 3790 km to the sector: SOUTH-EAST

Movement: SOUTH, at 9 km/h.

Key messages:

- TALIAH is losing its tropical characteristics and has been classified as a post-tropical depression this Tuesday afternoon, February 18. As the system moves toward 31°S latitude over increasingly cooler waters, thunderstorm activity is becoming more sporadic and distant from the low pressure center, although strong winds may still remain in the southern part of the system by Wednesday.

- TALIAH is expected to continue to weaken in the coming days, evolving from Wednesday evening into a residual depression without thunderstorm activity, then moving definitively towards extratropical latitudes at the end of the week without threatening any inhabited land.
