Re: SIO: INVEST 98S
System Information: DISRUPTED ZONE 13-20242025
Maximum winds (averaged over 10 minutes) estimated at sea: 75 km/h.
Estimated maximum gusts at sea: 100 km/h.
Estimated pressure at center: 998 hPa.
Position on March 8 at 4 p.m. local time: 12.4 South / 84.5 East.
Distance from the Reunion coast: 3195 km in the sector: EAST-NORTH-EAST
Distance from Mayotte: 4260 km to sector: EAST
Movement: SOUTH-SOUTH-WEST, at 15 km/h.
Key messages:
- Over the last 24 hours, over the eastern part of the basin, system 13-20242025 has begun to organize itself in a more favorable environment, the baptism stage is close.
- Over the next 24 hours, this system should benefit from an environment favorable to its intensification. It could therefore reach the stage of a strong tropical storm, moving towards the southwest.
- From Monday 10th, system 13 should start to weaken far from any inhabited land. It therefore poses no threat.

Re: SIO: IVONE - Moderate Tropical Storm
System Information: MODERATE TROPICAL STORM IVONE
Maximum winds (averaged over 10 minutes) estimated at sea: 85 km/h.
Estimated maximum gusts at sea: 120 km/h.
Estimated pressure at center: 995 hPa.
Position on March 9 at 04:00 local time: 13.8 South / 84.0 East.
Distance from the Reunion coast: 3085 km to the sector: EAST
Distance from Mayotte: 4200 km to sector: EAST
Movement: SOUTH-SOUTH-WEST, at 15 km/h.
Key messages:
- Yesterday at 15UTC, the system 13-20242025 present on the East of the basin was baptized by the Mauritian meteorological service with the name IVONE. It is therefore a moderate tropical storm. The baptism arriving before that of the system 12-20242025 present on the Mozambique Channel, we can note an inversion between the number and the alphabetical order.
- For the moment, the intensity of IVONE is not changing but over the next 24 hours, this system should benefit from an environment favorable to a slight intensification. It could therefore reach the stage of a strong tropical storm, moving towards the South-Southwest.
- From Monday 10, IVONE should begin to weaken by taking a westerly direction then still with a weak intensity orient itself towards the South-West before diving towards more southerly latitudes.
- This system poses no threat to inhabited land.
