Sad news from azskyman's wife:

As many of you may have noticed Steve has not been on FB. He was hospitalized in August and during his work up an MRI was done. He had these annually to make sure that the pituitary tumor that was resected in 2013 was not growing back. However, this recent MRI revealed a glial tumor in the thalamus. Hard spot to get to with risks for a 76 year old man. Steve opted not to do a biopsy, as finding out if it was cancerous would not increase his overall survival rate. He is now confined to his bed and hospice has taken over his care.
We are signing off on FB as he can no longer express or articulate what his thoughts are.
Thank you to all of you that appreciated what he wrote over the years , good or bad, challenging, and thought provoking. Steve has been and always will be a very special person, great husband (my absolute best friend )father, grandpa, brother. Until you meet him again, may you all stay healthy, happy, and enjoy your family and friends.
❤️ Kathy

Newer members will not remember him, but he was a constant poster from our early years.
Please keep Steve and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Very sad news. Steve was a great person who I respected. Prayers for his family during this rough time and glad Steve is no longer suffering.

An update from Steve Stienke's wife:

Last night, December 2nd at 10:48pm Steve decided it was time “to go home”. He quietly passed in our home with me, our youngest son Jarrod, and his beloved, faithful dog, Marlee Mae by his side. As heartbreaking and sad as it is to say our goodbyes, we are comforted in knowing that he is no longer suffering or confined to a bed. Thank you all for following Steve through his writing stories, memories, discussions on a little bit of everything that nonstop brain of his could come up with, but most of all his pictures and words about his love of the weather.
So we say to him, “ find your cloud Steve so we can look up and think of you each and every time you float by.” We will love you forever,
Your loving family

Steve was one of the instigators of an old tradition we had at STORM2K. He and Dennis(RIP 2013) started a forum called "Sitting around the old potbelly stove" an early feature at STORM2K which was very popular. I know the two of them are sitting together now "around the old potbelly stove".
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve and adjust to their lives without Steve.

Wow, this post is a couple years old now but I knew AZSKYMAN. Sad to hear. Geez, another of the Arizona contingent passed and gone to the Big Aurora in the heavens.
Same for AZSNOWMAN, ALASKAHUNA....ah, the old days.....when they were around and we actually got rain during the summer monsoon season. And had great weather discussions and observations. sigh
