NAM has around 2 inches of rain Tuesday

We could actually go above normal on rainfall if that verifies :double:

there's a band over 6" out west of Texarkana

Friday colder again on the GFS. Rain is mostly east

Arctic front is faster this run, coming in early on Christmas Eve. Some light snow around Wichita Falls

GFS is another cold run. Not much snow except up north. It's not doing the backtrack low like 12z/18z after

0z Canadian brings back the winter storm threat across TX December 26. Holds back enough energy in the Western U.S. to allow for overrunning behind the strong cold front.

Christmas Eve colder than Christmas Day on the GFS. DFW almost fails to make freezing Christmas Eve and is in the mid 40s Christmas Day

GFS now has snow across DFW on Christmas Eve and has the NE portions of the metroplex struggling to get highs above freezing on Christmas Day.

CMC has a 1066 mb(!!!!) high over South Dakota at 216 :roflmao:

GFS pushing 50 the day after Christmas. Zero consistency here.

Disturbance approaching from the west in the days after Christmas on the 0z GFS. Will the cold air still be in place to allow for a risk of frozen precip?

That is a funky look on the 00z GFS. Short wave crashing down the West Coast with plenty of cold air across the N. Plains. We would need a northern stream kicker to release that down ahead of the s/w, if it kicks out across the SW into Texas.

ETA: Looks like it might try and cutoff as the cold air is moving down the Front Range.

GFS way too warm for frozen precip after Christmas, rain almost into Kansas

Very odd how it warms up

That's a lot of rain...
