Looks like the initial wind shift is through Ponder, about an hour ago. Just checked the home weather station.

Regarding March, honestly, it may be too late for real winter by that point, but anything to keep the temps into a more reasonable level is fine with me. Hold off those 80s.

I think the front is nearly here in north Fort Worth from the radar and my home station showing the wind just switched to the northeast.

This is WELL above schedule.

The front is sloshing through the northern burbs but hasn't reached the urban core yet.

Historically speaking March gets more snow/more events than December for DFW. Especially before the 15th. It just hasn't been so lately due to the very warm late winters.

Good point about early March still being good timing for North TX.

FYI, front is here in Saginaw/north FW.

My temp has gone from 50 to 43 and wind from the north.

Sleeting at 19°F, seems like I got a crazy warm nose

Earlier, it was freezing mist, the 12z OUN sounding had a double warm nose

If you like winter weather in north texas, ensembles are showing a pretty decent setup for that part of the state in early march, -EPO blocking, trough centered over the central to SW US , TPV anchored over hudson bay, some resistance from the SE ridge which can be a good thing, might not be a bad set up for early march in north texas, but at least the first half of march looks below normal temperature wise for most of the state, nothing crazy, but definitely cooler than average looks like a good bet

Freezing rain and sleet in March in Houston seems most unlikely, but we're getting once or twice a decade cold snaps 4 of the last 5 winters. If the 300 hour GFS was correct adjusted for its poor handling of cold air, that would be snow. I don't know when the GFS is correct at 300 hours.

Ensemble suggests precip isn't a problem, but temps would be 30 degrees above snow/ice.

Can someone please post a good radar that shows mist? It’s coming down at a pretty good clip in my parts but nothing showing on the radars I have.

On Christmas Eve, 1983, a strong Arctic front had moved through SE TX. On the south shore of Clear Lake, they recorded an inch of lake-effect snow in the strong north wind. That was a brutally cold period, with single-digit lows in Houston and highs in the lower 20s. We were below freezing for nearly 5 full days.

Mist droplets are generally too small to show up on radar.

3F up near Perryton and 81F down near Brownsville.

El Paso will hardly feel this at all as the cold air doesn't really make it up there. Same extremes in New Mexico, Clayton 10F, Santa Fe...what cold?
