6-10 inches of snow in Houston????????

This is from the Houston/Galv National Weather Service this morning! Holy Moly :eek:

Today: Partly cloudy, with a high around 42. Breezy, with a north wind between 15 and 20 mph.

Tonight: A chance of rain and snow after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 29. Blustery, with a north wind between 10 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high around 34. Breezy, with a north wind between 15 and 20 mph. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low near 28. North wind between 10 and 15 mph.

Christmas Day: Partly cloudy, with a high around 45. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32.[/b]

That's defintely a mistake... I think it's very iffy whether more than a flake or two will fall.

I promise I did not make it up!! I pasted it directly from their site this morning. Almost had a snowball, I mean a cow!

I really didn't think it would be enough to make a snowball, I would have been happy with a few flakes here and there!

Guys,

It must have been a mistake :oops:

(on their part). Because it has now changed. BUT, my husband read the same thing when I cut and pasted directly from their site. He is from Ohio and laughs because I'm so excited, of course he has seen many white Christmas's.

Like I said before, I will be happy to see a few flakes, which is what I was expecting in the first place.

What do you think the roads will be like in Houston Friday nite? I'm supposed to drive up to Kingwood for Christmas Eve from Friendswood. Should I be worried about ice? I cannot get stuck, Santa will be passing at my house!

tano68, sorry they teased you like that. I'm sure the mets are just as wired about predicting this southern event as we are waiting for it. Can you just imagine the # of phone calls they recieved in that short period that it was posted. LOL We'll keep our fingers crossed that you do get to see some of the white stuff before all is said and done.

Your drive to Kingwood could be somewhat dicey. There is a high probability that the overpasses and bridges will be icy/snowy at that time and in fact you could be driving in a winter precip, probably snow. If the event unfolds as expected the furhter North you go the better your weather will become.
