That's defintely a mistake... I think it's very iffy whether more than a flake or two will fall.

Tano68 where did you get that from? This is from the NWS Hou/Gal and is a direct cut and paste.

$$

I would love to see yours come true, but...????

And some of the discussion...

WINTRY PRECIPITATION POSSIBILITIES FOR FRIDAY IS THE NEXT ITEM TO
TACKLE. THE ETA IS STILL DRIER BUT IS COMING IN LINE WITH THE GFS.
THE GFS CONTINUES BRINGING GOOD ISENTROPIC LIFT INTO THE COASTAL AREAS
OVERNIGHT THURSDAY NIGHT AS SEEN ON THE 290K SURFACE. THE PW AND 1000
TO 500 MB THICKNESS FORECASTS INDICATED GOOD THICKNESS SATURATION AT
OR HIGHER THAN 70 PERCENT INTO THE NORTHERN TIER OF COUNTIES ON BOTH
THE GFS AND ETA ON FRIDAY AND THE MAV...FWC...AND MET OUTPUT ALL ARE
INDICATING A CHANCE OF PRECIP. WILL NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE WET
BULB ZERO TEMPERATURE THROUGHOUT THIS EVENT AS IT WILL PROBABLY BE ONE
OF THE MAJOR KEYS TO WHETHER OR NOT ANY PRECIP REACHES THE GROUND AS
THE GFS FORECAST SOUNDINGS ARE A BIT DRIER IN THE LOW-LEVELS THAN 24
HOURS AGO. BOTH THE GFS AND ETA FORECAST THE 32 WET BULB ZERO ISOLINE
RIGHT AT THE COASTLINE. FOR THIS FORECAST...WILL START THE
PRECIPITATION AS A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW ALONG THE COAST BEFORE 12Z
FRIDAY WITH ALL SNOW CHANCES FURTHER INLAND. AFTER 12Z WILL GO WITH
ALL SNOW CHANCES. THE EXCEPTIONS WILL BE IN THE BAYS (WHERE A MIX
SHOULD CONTINUE GIVEN THE WET BULB ZERO FORECASTS) AND OVER THE GULF
WATERS (WHERE THE TEMPERATURE PROFILES ARE TOO WARM FOR SNOW
THROUGHOUT THE EVENT).

I promise I did not make it up!! I pasted it directly from their site this morning. Almost had a snowball, I mean a cow!

I really didn't think it would be enough to make a snowball, I would have been happy with a few flakes here and there!

Guys,

It must have been a mistake  (on their part). Because it has now changed. BUT, my husband read the same thing when I cut and pasted directly from their site. He is from Ohio and laughs because I'm so excited, of course he has seen many white Christmas's.

Like I said before, I will be happy to see a few flakes, which is what I was expecting in the first place.

What do you think the roads will be like in Houston Friday nite? I'm supposed to drive up to Kingwood for Christmas Eve from Friendswood. Should I be worried about ice? I cannot get stuck, Santa will be passing at my house!

Sorry again.

tano68, sorry they teased you like that. I'm sure the mets are just as wired about predicting this southern event as we are waiting for it. Can you just imagine the # of phone calls they recieved in that short period that it was posted. LOL We'll keep our fingers crossed that you do get to see some of the white stuff before all is said and done.

Your drive to Kingwood could be somewhat dicey. There is a high probability that the overpasses and bridges will be icy/snowy at that time and in fact you could be driving in a winter precip, probably snow. If the event unfolds as expected the furhter North you go the better your weather will become.
