Snow for NC Sunday and Monday?
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY NC
357 PM EST THU DEC 15 2005
.SHORT TERM (TONIGHT)...LARGE SHIELD OF RAINFALL...SOME OF IT
HEAVY MOVING INTO OUR SRN AND WRN CWA AND WILL CONTINUE
CATEGORICAL POPS THRU MUCH OF THE EVENING HOURS. SFC LOW PRES
DEVELOPING S OF MACON GEORGIA AND SHOULD SHIFT EAST TO NEAR THE
COAST OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. WEDGE OF COLD AIR STILL HOLDING
TOUGH OVER THE WRN PIEDMONT WHICH SHOULD LIMIT THE WESTERN EXTENT
OF THE LOW TRACK. BEST TRACK LOOKS TO BE ALONG THE I-95 CORRIDOR
OR JUST EAST OF THERE ALONG THE AXIS OF BEST PRES FALLS. WINDS ARE
INCREASING OFF OUR SRN COAST AND SHOULD SEE SOME LOCALIZED GUSTS
TO PERHAPS 40 MPH ALONG THE SRN COAST AND 45 MPH NEAR
HATTERAS...SO WILL CONTINUE WIND ADVISORY MAINLY FOR THE GUST
POTENTIAL. BULK OF PRECIP SHOULD END BY 06Z OR SO WITH WINDS
GRADUALLY BECOMING MORE WESTERLY TOWARD MORNING WITH RAPID DRYING
EXPECTED. CLOUDS AND RAINFALL SHOULD LIMIT MIN TEMPS TO THE MIDDLE
40S.
&&
.LONG TERM (FRIDAY THROUGH THURSDAY)...ACTIVE PATTERN OVER THE
NEXT WEEK WITH GENERAL TROFFINESS OVER THE ERN US. NEXT IN THE
SERIES OF SYSTEMS TO AFFECT US LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
SUNDAY MORNING. INTERESTING THERMAL PROFILE AS H8 TEMPS WILL BE IN
THE -1 TO -2C RANGE ACROSS MUCH OF THE CWA AROUND 12Z SUNDAY IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE BEST DEEP OMEGA AND MOISTURE. HOWEVER...THE
LOW LEVEL CRITICAL THICKNESS VALUES ARE QUITE HIGH WHICH WOULD
IMPLY MORE RAIN PERHAPS MIXED WITH SOME WET SNOW. WILL HAVE THIS
IN THE FCST FOR THE PERIOD LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. EVAPORATIVE COOLING WILL KEEP TEMPS QUITE CHILLY SUNDAY
WITH MAXES STRUGGLE TO GET MUCH ABOVE 40 IN MOST AREAS. NEXT
SYSTEM WILL BE A STRONG NW FLOW H5 SHORTWAVE MONDAY NIGHT.
COMBINATION OF STRONG LIFT AND DYNAMICAL COOLING...H8 TEMPS AND
LOWERING THICKNESS COULD LEAD TO A PERIOD OF SNOW LATE MONDAY
NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THIS SCENARIO HAS LED TO SEVERAL MINOR
SNOW EVENTS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND WILL BEAR WATCHING. FOR
NOW...WILL FCST RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS FOR MON NIGHT. REMAINDER OF
NEXT WEEK SHOULD BE DRY WITH UPPER FLOW BECOMING A BIT MORE ZONAL.

As of now... the only chance of snow(and it is small and brief) will be during the very early hours Sunday... you might get lucky and get enough to cover the ground for a short time before the rain melts it. After that... as of now, looks dry.
Saturday Night: A chance of sprinkles and snow after 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low near 33. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday: A slight chance of snow and freezing rain before 9am, then rain likely and possibly mixed with freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Brent, that's not for Central NC I hope, because if so you are way off. The Traid region(Greensboro, High Point) are looking at a nice set up.

Yeah, that may be true, but are local met said that the models are trending colder as of now and he said that we would probably get all snow or a mix. Also, it has snowed here when it has been as warm as 39F, so with a high of 35F, we could possibly get all snow.
