blythville arkansas, wow, I've been through there 8 or 9 times, I like that little town :)

Thanks! We like it too. Just moved here 2 years ago. We used to live about 20 miles south of here in Osceola. I just hope its still here when you come back through next time!! Hopefully we will be spared the tornadoes and just have the storms. Caruthersville is only about 25 miles north of here, so I have alot of friends that live up that way and I know they certainly don't need anymore!

An isolated severe cell has developed just west of Austin and is capable of hail to quarter size. Storms were not really expected in this area too...so I am hoping we can get a similar situation in SE Texas tonight or tomorrow. All I need is one or two severe storms (and at least one to be in range of a good lightning show) to be satisfied.

EDIT: That isolated cell has now become a cluster of severe cells with nickle sized hail. These storms are about to move just north of Austin.

hey guys ... checking in ... thundering at my house (I live far north, near the Williamson-Travis County line) ... no rain yet but it looks like the southern edge of this cluster may clip us. Was very surprised that these things popped up. I thought our rain chances were nil.

A pretty big stormcloud appeared to our West today. Had a couple minutes of sunshowers, definitely a treat!

Still no sign of severe weather though. :(

(God, what am I saying? I feel like a wish-caster waiting for a tornado to hit my house...this weather is so boring it's messing with my head!)

Just checked and those storms near Austin have had reports of nickle to quarter sized hail with them! Also, it looks like that cluster is holding together quite well as it moves east. Hopefully this cluster can reach Houston (or a new one develope).

Houston's in the slight risk area today and right at the TX/LA border they are almost in the moderate risk. Today could be more interesting than I thought.

ubetcha! I hated that! thats whats been happeneing to me the last 2 years!
It was all moving NE and I couldve sworn it was over my head and it was...the precip just stopped and then when it moved out of my area, it started again. I was looking forward to that storm...there could have been nickel sized hail, 50mph winds and there were 2 mesos on radar and it all missed us

Conditions are becoming more favorable over eastern texas for storms and I am now noticing a little verticle height to some of the cumuls clouds around the area (meaning the cap may be breaking). We will need to watch the skies for sure over the next 2-3 hours as any storms that develope will likely go severe quickly and we could even see a supercell or two if we can get any activity. The best chance of storms will be to the NE of Houston, but I think a good 20% chance for the Houston area sounds good over the next few hours.

While this severe weather has all been happening...I just realized that the TX panhandle, western Oklahoma and many other areas of the plains have been getting good 25-45mph sustained winds and gusts to 35-60mph (even one 70mph report) over the last two days. There has even been a large swath of blowing dust (similar to the dust bowl?). This system is truely powerful. It is amazing that it can produce tropical storm force winds (at least in gusts..but in some places sustained) for over 2 days!

EDIT: take a look at the loop of this low: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/sat_loop24.php Is it just me or is this thing heading straight for the gulf coast??? If so, then they may need to start increasing our wind speed potential!

***Many places in that approaching cloud plume are experiencing 30-40+mph wind gusts and blowing dust. How crazy would it be if that reached Houston (with some dust still associated with it).***

Image Looking at this tower cam shot...it looks like a little dust may have reached Dallas. Anyone in northern Texas seeing any dust/strong wind right now?

**You can track the leading edge of the dust/wind on the Dallas radar!**

HUGE LINE OF STORMS JUST POPPED UP!!!!

EDIT: I see lightning! :D

2nd EDIT: Well the storm never really got going here in my area; most of the heavier stuff stayed just to my NE. I did, however, see a few lightning bolts, and I got some light rain (and 20-30mph wind gusts). If this line would have tried to get going about 4-5 hours earlier...I have no doubt that it would have quickly gone severe with 60+mph wind gusts. I guess we missed out again.. (Either way though...it was much more than I expected for tonight).

Just noticed that line on radar. If it holds together it will be here in about 2 hours. It's a thin line of storms but the radar returns are very strong so we'll see what happens. We desperately need any rain we can get right now.
