This is amazing...there must be dozens of possible tornados active. I just counted around a dozen couplets on the Columbus MS radar alone.....MGC

I think we're watching Super Outbreak II.
At the moment, it appears it could be as severe for the Deep South. I wonder if the cap could break further north, into the Ohio Valley, and potentially some tornadoes could strike there? There are also currently non-PDS tornado watches in effect for the Mid-Atlantic from NY south to NC, but so far no tornado warnings within these watches.

Almost immediately after my post, I noticed that the SPC is now in all likelihood planning to issue a new tornado watch for Kentucky, southern Ohio, and southern Indiana.

LATE AFTERNOON SURFACE ANALYSIS INDICATED AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
LOCATED OVER SERN MO...WITH THIS FEATURE EXPECTED TO UNDERGO FURTHER
INTENSIFICATION TRACKING TOWARD INDIANA AS THE ATTENDANT PROGRESSIVE
OZARKS SHORTWAVE TROUGH TAKES ON A NEGATIVE TILT TRACKING NEWD.
DESPITE WEAKER INSTABILITY IN PLACE ACROSS THE DISCUSSION AREA...A
STRENGTHENING LOW LEVEL JET INTO KY/SRN IND/SRN OH BY EARLY EVENING
AS A 100 KT SWLY MIDLEVEL JET NOSES INTO THIS REGION WILL AID IN
DESTABILIZATION. THIS COMBINED WITH INCREASING LOW LEVEL SHEAR
/300-500 M2 PER S22/ INTO THE EVENING WILL BE VERY FAVORABLE FOR
STORM ROTATION...SUPERCELLS PRODUCING TORNADOES.
