Here are some radar station archives of today's summer-like showers and storms across the Florida peninsula thanks to Wunderground. If you look closely enough on the last radar loop you can see the t-storm @ 6pm "northjaxpro" was mentioning earlier!

I've seen mid-March weather that was overcast and 55*. Not this year. Summer-like and warmest yet.

Relief is on the way. It's been a long time since I've cheered on a cold front but sign me up!

:uarrow: Cold front next week not as strong as earlier forecasted this week, humidity will come down but high temps in the low 80s. Perfect spring weather, IMO.

Now that's a strange low.. :?: 3/16 miami

Looking at the
models, it appears that the low develops each day for the next
few days, so it is more likely a thermal low forming over the
interior. This could lead to increased cloudiness during the
afternoon, with little to no precipitation. The models support
this through Wednesday morning.

By Wednesday afternoon, an upper level ridge at 500mb breaks down
and a more defined low develops over South Florida. This low will
generally just affect the wind directions at the surface. This low
meanders around the area through Thursday night, when it is picked
up by a 500mb shortwave. This will bring a slight chance of
showers to the northeastern portion of the County Warning Area.

This low slowly moves off to the northeast and deepens. As it
does it will then interact with a more significant 500mb trough
and form a cold front which moves into the area over the weekend.
This low will bring increasing chances of showers beginning late
Sunday afternoon or Saturday evening through the beginning of the
week.

What a warm March most of the Peninsula is having so far, with many areas across interior central and parts of southern FL in the 7-8 degree above average range for the month. In fact Orlando Int'l is tracking on the warmest March ever with a whopping 73.7 deg average for the month, 7.7 degrees above average. It feels more like late April early May than the third week of March.
Below average rainfall is also ruling most of the state so far this month, not typical at all during El Ninos.
Some slightly cooler air is forecasted for the middle of next week of central FL as a stronger on shore wind moves in to get us closer to average. But it will be interesting if we end up or not with the warmest March on record.

This is very warm considering the average high for the period around this date is only 79°F. Not to mention highs have been well into the mid-upper 80's for several days now! This summer could be a VERY LONG one if this well above average trend continues.

@NWSMiami: West Palm Beach hit 90F degrees today, just 2 degrees shy of the record of 92 set in 1965!

Good morning everyone. StormExpert I can vouch for you very much on how hot it felt down here in South Florida yesterday. It felpt more like lower 90s although the max temps were in the mid-upper 80s in many spots. Yes, I am here in Fort Lauderdale, arrived here yesterday morning and will be here through Monday on a mini vacation and here to attend the Jazz in the Gardens event over in Miami Gardens for the weekend. The event itself ends tomorrow evening.

It is always great being down here, and today I will be venturing out to South Beach before going to the event tonight. Yesterday was as picture perfect as it could get with hardly a cloud in the sky. Just a bit hotter than even here in South Florida for late March. Another nice day on tap today with max temps well into the 80s. Rain is in the forecast for the South Florida area on Monday. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

:uarrow: Enjoy your visit in S FL northjaxpro, I also enjoy visiting Miami Beach from time to time just for people watching from all over the world, don't forget to put on sunblock ;)

Meanwhile here in Orlando officially we hit 90 once again yesterday with today and tomorrow another possible 90 deg day, as of yesterday our average temp for the month is up to 74.2, a whole 8 degrees above average and a half degree higher than the last record for the month, still tracking towards the warmest March on record.
Though Monday and Tuesday is forecasted for highs to come down to the low 80s and then again much cooler weather for next weekend I think it may not be enough to bring down the average for the month and may still end up the month with a record.

the seabreeze pays off big this time of year with coastal locations frequently a solid 8-10 degrees cooler by late afternoon compared to interior locations. Unfortunately with the Gulf warming rapidly those benefits might not last as long as usual this year. May in March continues.

Last night's GFS has gone insane again, it shows upper 30s for parts of central FL for Sunday morning, which would be in the record lows territory. The Euro is not that aggressive at all, so I am going with the Euro.

my high for next Saturday from the NWS is 69. the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks are running cool...then again they were a couple of weeks ago too and we know how that turned out. this one does look better though...I'll happily accept the cooler temps as we all know the summer swelter season is upon us.

Much cooler air remains on tap to close out this very warm March. the last few days of the month may very well put a dent in those super warm anomalies with sub 70 highs making it down to the I-4 corridor and low 50's for lows. this will be the coolest weather in weeks and below normal temps may persist for a while. For me this is a welcome change from the near summer warmth we've had to endure during what should be a mild time of the year. I guess if we had May in much of March I'll happily accept March in April. My hope is the chill persists enough to drop the water temps back a touch...my guess is it will since they've gotten quite a bit ahead of themselves.

Glad to see that the cooler spring like weekend is still in the forecast, a much needed break for my A/C system. But I am glad to see that the GFS dropped its crazy solution of upper 30s for lows across parts of central FL, the Euro also did but very briefly on its 12z run from yesterday.
We also had much needed rain this morning to wash away some of the pollen.

Much cooler and impressively drier this weekend behind the front,
with dewpoints falling into the middle and upper 30s across the
northwest interior. Surface high pressure in a good location for
decoupling Sunday night, with the coldest temperatures in South Florida in
quite some time, considering the warm pattern the past few weeks.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Good morning everyone. Recovering from a great time and vacation down in Fort Lauderdale and Miami this past weekend! The weather was great , no rain and lots of sun, although a bit hotter than normal, even for South Florida standards this time of year, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 every day down there until I left to come back to Jax on Tuesday.

Looks as if we will see a bit of a cooldown this weekend here in the northern peninsula and slightly cooler conditions and lower humidity farther down the rest of the peninsula. An upper level trough brings down a rather cool High Pressure dome down into the Central and Eastern CONUS. As of now, expecting mid-upper 30s on Sunday morning across the Big Bend and normally colder spots across North Florida. So, what likely will probably be the last significant cool spell until October, I will get out and enjoy it.

Picked up just over an inch of rain in thunderstorms that rolled through my region late yesterday and early evening. It was good indeed and desperately needed to help wash out the pollen in the air, which is really playing havoc with my sinuses.

The latest drought monitor issued yesterday shows the drought conditions gradually intensifying in extreme South Florida. Knowing that we have had very little to no rain this month and April is typically the driest month of the dry season thanks to less cold fronts trying to approach the region. Maybe we will see some hope today but I doubt it will be much due to the storms being confined mostly to a squall line ahead of this cold front and they will also are expected to be in and out of the area in just a short time.

A cold front will move across South Florida this afternoon with numerous showers and a chance for thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong with wind gusts to 55 mph. There will also be a moderate risk of rip currents at the Collier County beaches.

Image
High pressure will build across the area with the chance for thunderstorms diminishing through the evening hours. Temperatures will be much cooler than over the past few weeks.

Refreshing cool this morning after the last several weeks of May-like temps. It's shaping up to be a gorgeous weekend across the peninsula. 8-)

Yes indeed gatorcane it does feel very refreshing this morning after having above normal heat for March. It got down to 44.3 degrees at my locale earlier this morning and it felt nice. Cool dome of High Pressure will give us across the peninsula a beautiful spring weekend and a brief reprieve from the heat. Temps tomorrow morning may drop into the 30s across the northern peninsula as better radiational cooling conditions will be in place. Warmer temps return Monday so enjoy what likely will be the last cooldown in this region until at least October.
