Actually, we usually have at least one that does damage per year. Some notables include one in Marlboro County that cleared a shopping center off of it's foundation in March 1984. It was two miles wide and is officially recorded as an F4. However, during a special aired on local TV in 2004, an NWS official stated that it was "borderline F5." Around 1995 an F3 took out several homes and a church in Marion. The one in the video was estimated today by NWS-ILM to be F2. A mobile home became airborne and several brick homes sustained significant damage.
