Tornado Video

#1 Postby Regit » Mon May 15, 2006 4:15 pm

Interesting tornado video here from Sunday afternoon. Under "Video Center" scroll down and click on "Tornado at Timmonsville Hwy." Listening to the people taping it is also entertaining. Also, click on "S. Center Road Damage." That video has an interview with a man who had his house picked up and was thrown from it.

Thanks for posting. I grew up in Florence, SC. I don't ever recall hearing of a tornado in that area.

Actually, we usually have at least one that does damage per year. Some notables include one in Marlboro County that cleared a shopping center off of it's foundation in March 1984. It was two miles wide and is officially recorded as an F4. However, during a special aired on local TV in 2004, an NWS official stated that it was "borderline F5." Around 1995 an F3 took out several homes and a church in Marion. The one in the video was estimated today by NWS-ILM to be F2. A mobile home became airborne and several brick homes sustained significant damage.
