NW Caribbean and Upcoming Week

#1 Postby KatDaddy » Mon Sep 01, 2003 7:49 am

Area of disturbed weather to move into W GOM with possible development. Accu-weather has indicated this will be the place to watch.
In addition a trough will develop across the E US pushing a front into the N GOM. Even if no development occurs another round of heavy tropical rains could occur from TX eastward

Yes, ETA and GFS both show a low developing from our enhanced TW in the western Carib. and moving northward into the S. Central GOM by Thur. A more northward motion toward the upper Gulf Coast is most liklely at this time as the trough influences a SW to NE flow. Shear from the SW along this trough maybe the fly in the ointment for strong development.

An area to watch for sure!

This looks to be affecting mainly from New Orleans east with this next one. Lord knows we don't need anymore rain quite yet here in Texas.

While Grace helped in TX, the long term effects are not over by a long shot. Yes the short term may be gone, but the long term is what you need to be concerned about. 6-8" doesn't cut it. 24" or more is needed for that area, at least.

Not all at once....That doesn't help the drought situation either. 6-12 inches or so with a break....then another 10" in 2 weeks...followed by a persistant light to moderate rain will help the drought situation.
