If Isabel had slowed down before landfall thus giving her more time over the Atlantic what could have happened?

Just a couple more inches of rain would have made the flash flooding much worse in my location. I have a stream near my house, it had about 1 inch of water before the storm, afterwards it was touching the bottom of the bridge, 6 feet higher (Incidentally, this is the point where we started with Hurricane Floyd, which is why we had such bad regular floods, in addition to flash floods.)
