Ivan question

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Ivan question

#1 Postby clueless newbie » Fri Sep 03, 2004 1:58 pm

Looking at the visual of Ivan:

What is the line starting up and then curving to east? It clearly catalyzes convection, especially close to the centre.

That storm is already looking good! It is already forming a cdo with banding.

Wow ... that's pretty freaky looking. I hope one of the pro mets can explain what's going on with that ....

My only thought is it might be the after-effects of the alien tropical cyclone genesis ray ... but probably not. ;-)

You're right ... which would make that line the umbilical cord.

Looking at http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT/EATL/VIS/20.jpg, it indeed connects Ivan to Africa. Maybe it goes all way to Moscow... ;-)

Seriously though, any pro can offer an explanation? Just a simple, although unlikely, outflow boundary? Different kind of boundary?
