Newbie question...

First... my thoughts and heartfelt wishes are with everyone dealing with the aftermath of Charley and now Frances... My question my be a little silly but I have to ask as I am in the Ft Walton/Destin area and there is a chance Frances may come in our general direction... Once she gets into the Gulf, I am assuming that she will not have much time to reconsolidate and the most we could get is a strong tropical storm or a weak hurricane... there is no chance she could stall out in the gulf and pick up steam right? Please say yes.

unfornately as slow as this system has been moving, if she stays over the gulf for any length of time she has the possibility of restrengthing as the gulf is very very warm. stay on your toes!!!

It *looks* like she will make landfall east of you in the Apalachicola area tomorrow as a Category One hurricane. You'll be on the weak side if that happens.

Like Brent said,they are forecasting it to hit east of you,if that happens you'll get some rain and that's about it.But the track continues to change over and over again,I think the NHC will have a much better idea of where on the Gulf coast Frances will hit,after it crosses S FL.I would keep a close eye on the track.

yes.... that seems to be what they are forcasting now. But I have been watching this for a while now and I have noticed that it keeps changing back and forth. There seems to have been less "this is what the storm is going to do" and more "this is what it might do" with this storm that I have seen in the past years. I know its hard to tell what is going to happen but there seems to be so much more uncertainty with this storm than usual. I dont envy the peole who have to forcast these events, I sure wouldnt want to be 'responsible' for making that call. My hat goes off to them. I dont generally harbor anthropomorphic tendancies but mother nature sure does seem to have a bone to pick with florida this year.
