So is the eye over land or water? Is it really paralleling?

I wonder why is winds never caught up with the pressure? 987mb is very low for Tropical Storm.

It looks like the center just clipped Cape Fear but it's moving pretty much parallel to the coast now

Strange CW6445 near Cape Fear - closest to the center - is reading 988.4

No official report of landfall yet, but from what I see with my amatuer eyes, it looks like the center of the center is on land to me......which is the definition of landfall. Its hard to tell because that point of land (Cape Fear?) sticks out there, after landfall a good portion of the COC could remain over water a little longer......because of the shape of the coast. I'm judging all this by looking at this loop. See and judge for yourself.

It looks like a glancing blow, yes... and it looks like it might even spend some more time over water, by that loop.... This can't be good for NC beaches.

Yeah, leave it to Ernesto to continue to baffle us. The shape of the coast and direction he's traveling, it might just clip cape fear and paralell the coast with half his COC hanging out over water on the way up to Wilmington.

Actually if you look at the coordinates from 8 to 11 it actually went almost north. 33.2 and 78.3 at 8pm to 33.9 and 78.2 at 11pm. I am not sure if it is a jog to the north but it might stay inland if this trend continues in the next few hours.

Long Beach is a barrier island.... similar to saying that landfall on Miami Beach is the same as Miami.

Except fewer nightclubs 8-)

Yeah, sorry......CLIP was NOT the right word for me to use. Meant HIT and then continue on elsewhere.
