On San Juan Radar loop you can make out two levels of convection - isolated thunderstorm (red spots) moving north with LL flow and a cone of green and yellow N of San Juan moving S with UL flow. So:
1) Chris is still able to lift air all the way to the upper troposphere and generate convection
2) That air is very dry, because it doesn't seem to generate any rain or clouds until its really up there.
3) Not quite dead yet but I don't see how he could recover if he's lofting such dry air and is only a few hours away from Hispaniola cutting off moisture from the south.

You can also see most of the deeper convection is still getting sheared to the south. You can see the low-level stiff crisscrossing with the deeper convection that's getting sheared.
