Nice convection!

That's some nice convection with that wave. I'm not seeing anything too significant as for local observations. The only noteworthy obs under that blob were: Tambacounda, Senegal which reported a moderate rainshower and thunderstorm. Sea-level pressure there was 1014.1mb. Also was Kenieba, Mali. They reported a heavy rainshower and thunderstorm with a sea-level pressure of 1011.9mb. This wave hopefully is a keeper.

That is one of the largest tropical waves I have ever seen!!! :o :o :o What is even more significant to me than its' size is the fact it already has and equatorial outflow channel established or it sure looks like it! This one will definitely bear some watching!

That's the tropical wave the GFS is jumping all over progging a substantial hurricane coming west across the Atlantic in 96 hours -- but we'll just have to wait and see.....it's definitely impressive at the moment.

Well hate to say anything bad this Monday morning but this system doesn't look AS impressive this morning. Still got some deep convection but lost alot when it went across the water this morning.

Bets on it will stay together. Sure is alot further south to be a East coast storm?

I thought just the opposite when I looked at it this morning. Finally, a wave has retained most of its convection after moving offshore. IR/WV reveals good outflow all quadrants. Could definitely be the next storm.

I notice one thing strange - the BAMD keeps it moving mostly westward for 120 hours, but the BAMM turns it up to 20N at 120hrs - same as the GFS. Strange for the DEEP layer model to keep it south and the others to bring it way to the north. GFS indicates fish storm so far, but it's all in the timing.

Saw that too! I think its quite impressive this morning and the BAMM and GFS are moving this the furthest north to 20. Too early to speculate. let's get a storm first.

Yes, there is a big ol' wave that just came off the coast of Africa and it has HURRICANE written all over it. You heard it here first.

Its important to keep in mind that the "low" just came off the African coast. The convection you see is the SW quadrant of the low. The 15:30 loop shows a marvelous looking circulation with even a hint of outflow. Important thing is can it wrap and stack without getting unraveled like the others. If it starts to wrap and not fight with an area off to the south (that almost looks like it wants to take the lead), then we will end up with one LARGE system. Could be the second coming of Gloria, or perhaps Gilbert?? Maybe. Cheers!!

The well defined low center is to the east of the convection so not be focused right now on that big convecton area as it shows clear that low just off the coast as some east shear is in the area.
