Good flare up of storms but it looks kinda small but strong. I think this system is stationary because it hasnt moved much from that spot in the last couple of hours, it just seems to be sitting there. Water temps are good in that part of the caribbean but im not sure about windshear...that hasnt slowed down much has it? All it needs is a better environment and then the stage is set ( im not saying this will or will not develop into anything though 8-) )

That blob of clouds looks like it is heading westward. It probably will not develope until it reaches the Pacific!

Actually...the models do want to develop it a little...

In the EPAC. The ridge responsible for keeping Florida dry will also help to push any disturbances into the Pacific for now.

On a related note...no measurable precip is expected in the southern 3/4 of Florida for the next week. We are now a full week behind with the start of the rainy season and we will probably be another week late at least.

Brush Fires in the Panhandle

#8 Postby FWBHurricane » Thu May 27, 2004 9:20 am

Dang MW are you serious? There is a brush fire up here near us in Freeport. I think about 60 acres have already been burned, firefighters are doing what they can but the ground is so dry that the fire is spreading REALLY fast.

It's just as bad in lower South Carolina, Mike ... the first three days of May featured almost all of the rainfall in the area (CHS) ... since the 3rd of May, a measly .20" of rain (although, some lucky locales picked up heavy rains from stationary convection this past weekend) ...

The stubborn ridging ain't budging, and in fact, MIGHT get a little hotter ...
