This vaguely reminds me of watching Isabel form up- it was oh so very pretty- but heading towards land. (completly different tracks)

It was heartstoppingly beautiful and at the same time- utterly terrifying.

Brent, you took the words right out of my mouth. Just seems surreal.

I had my first hurricane in 1949 at 6 months old on a SE FL barrier island. Prior to the naming of canes. Second one in 1950. Other little ones and Donna. Floyd clobbered our place (not me personally) in Green Turtle Cay, Abacos, Charley and Frances. Hopefully, Ivan won't get on my Hurricane Life List

We are in a weather dream or nightmare.

If anyone would be willing to point me to a source that explains it, I'd like to learn more about how the Dvorak number is derived.

TIA.

Hmm...I've been feeling the same way all day. Just out of curiosity, I'll run a poll to see how many others feel this way.

Wouldn't it be funny if we all just woke up?

More like a nightmare than a dream though

Just wish we could flick a switch and it could be Christmas.
Then we would be happy.

You know there's too many hurricanes when...

people on a tropical weather board are wishing there would be no more hurricanes this season!

(apologies to that redneck guy)

ABCDEFGHI + 35 days of the active tropical season...

That's an average of one named storm every 4 days .

An average of one hurricane every 7 days.

An average of one major hurricane every 9 days.
