This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Say what you will, but this should be monitored:

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO ARE
ASSOCIATED WITH A WEAK SURFACE TROUGH INTERACTING WITH AN
UPPER-LEVEL LOW. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE CURRENTLY UNFAVORABLE FOR
ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM TO OCCUR.

Does that mean insignificant development may occur?

Really.... but we've seen it all this year. What can top what we've already witnessed?

No tropical activity next year???

I'll remain steadfastly unconcerned about development with this mess of convection, until one of the fine folks at the NWS tells us thar's BEARS WATCHING!

Bears have been very active at NHC this season. Many think that the standard time and a half is not sufficent. A walkout is immenent. Soon to be replaced by unqualified beavers. All NHC statements will now say "Beavers Watching".

I remember when Ivan was a tropical wave coming west off the coast of Africa, the NHC was saying that conditions were not favorable for storm development.

I wonder what their ratio of correct predictions in this regard is.

Convection, no circulation at any level.

And equally unimpressive on the VIS loop. I agree with golter...all convection, no circulation. Plenty of shearing southerly winds.

May be an area to watch down the road 3-5 days perhaps, but as for now, nothing to pique the curiousity of those pesky bears. Let 'em sleep.

It does look impressive to me. But, our meterologists are not even mentioning it at all. They give us sunny weather all week. We only had a couple of very brief showers from Ivan Jr. It has been a long time since we seen any decent rain here. I wonder if it will be another Bill that spun up real fast and caught most people off guard.

Bunnies!
Bunnies are much less threatening!
(mind you, they can get quite an attitude, though)
"bunnies watching"
Hmm "Bunns watching"
hmmm "bun watching" sounds like a thread we had on here regarding certain television mets.

looks like a trough hanging down from leftovers of ivan, sometimes if they stick around in that loop current area they can form something, most likely would move north or nne.
