I dont think it will be a fish storm... no matter how far east it goes the NHC has the heading EAST and not northeast. I think that Franklin will stay far enough south to remain strong and will loop around at some point to the west and will strike somewhere on the east coast.

as a note: it appears on satellite that Franklin is doing, dare I say it, a jog to the east... this could be the turn the NHC is forecasting or it could be just a jog...

He's moving far enough north that I think he'll feel the influence of the trought and head out. Last night, I wasn't at all sure of that, I thought he might even stall right in the middle Bahamas.

Reminder -- it's not a fish simply because it doesn't make US landfall. Tons of islands out there over which he can landfall.

Trust me -- islands count. :)

The NHC has done a great job this season so I'll go with a fish.

Exactly...Bermuda for starters...they keep getting hit by big stuff and little stuff alike. And between NGPS, UKM, GFDL, and GFS, 2 models go north of Bermuda within 1.5 degrees latitude and 2 models go south within that distance, so yeah.... :)

I am going with I don't think it will be! The NHC seems to be uncertain about what it will do and the way I see it theres a 50 50 chance. So based on the way this season has been so far I think FL will be dealing with a hurricane in the near future!

Hard to tell what Franklin will do,I suspect it al ldepends on wether Franklin makes the turn to the north soon,if it doesn't and keeps heading on its current track I believe a eventual landfall in northen florida is likely,if it does start making a turn then i suspect it'll be a fish....and god knows what happens if it starts to try and make a loop, possibly enough Jeanne considering it too was a strong TS by the time it did that.

If the trough misses it and he manages to stay in the same general area he is this afternoon, this thing could easily get pushed SW or even south if the ridge reestablishes itself in the same general position it has been in for much of July.
