Upper Level Low might be making it down to the surface...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Upper Level Low might be making it down to the surface...

#1 Postby Hyperstorm » Tue Aug 09, 2005 8:01 am

It appears so.

Latest satellite images suggest that the ULL that was centered near 30N 72W has developed some convection near the center and its surroundings indicating some transition. We'll have to wait to see if this continues, but it has struck me since yesterday the fact that it no longer resembles an ULL.

This system was mentioned earlier by the NHC, but it appears that they would have to do so again soon. UL conditions are favorable for some development over the next few days.

I'll be watching as it could also be a factor that influences the future track of "Tropical Wave Irene"...

[EDIT: FIXED AN ERROR IN THE COORDINATES]

I noticed it too. Been following this since it left the islands , sure has taken it's time. If it were to pull it's act together in short order it would basicly follow in harvey's footsteps at this point wouldn't it ?

Here's a very simple image depicting where the feature is:

The red circle inside the black circle indicates where a surface low might develop if it continues to develop convection.

We all have to remember that even though it is unusual, many storms in the past have developed from ULLs.

SSTs underneath are in the mid 80*s which is aiding in convection development...

Good eye for spotting things. However, it looks to be moving northeastward, so there might not be time for development, but good find.

This has actually been a very obvious feature for days now , especially in water vapor imagry. Even if it dosn't develope into anything major if it's turing into a low feature wouldn't that actually carve a path for Irene to follow ?
