Easterly Wave Approach TX Coast Next Week

#1 Postby KatDaddy » Tue May 16, 2006 6:28 am

I have not seen this in the disco's since last year.....hurricane season is on the way

From the HOU-GAL forecast discussion:

THIS WARM/DRY WX WILL BE CONTINUING. THIS TREND MAY BE EXACERBATED
SOMEWHAT BY THE (PROGGED) APPROACH OF AN ELY WAVE TOWARD THE LOWER
TX COAST. 41

Yeah, I just saw it early this morning on the maps of my weather site.

Seems TX could get the first Tropical System before the season begins.

Yes, I have heard rumor of this wave - either yesterday or the day before, a local met (Rob Perillo) mentioned that something may be forming in the Carib. and moving into the GOM late next week. He just mentioned it in passing - not very concerned and didn't dwell on it. I found that interesting.
Anyone else hear a met mentioning it?

Why are y'all asking so many questions and why isn't anyone answering them?

Who's gonna answer them anyway?
Senor? AFM? Bueller? Anyone?

I see hints of it in the modeling...but I also see a big longwave trof over the central GOM next week.

So...I doubt it...but I have to look a little more.

Thanks for the reply Air Force Met. I will look forward to what you have to say on this. I trust your posts as I trust my local met (Rob Perillo), who has taken us through many a hurricane - more recently, Lili and Rita. 8-)

so this looks to be late next week? Hopefully this doesn't interfere with my 10:30am flight on Friday! I would also be mad if this thing hit while I was gone (since I wouldn't get to see it). I hope everything holds off until at least mid June!

I would like to know why Airforcemet didn't give a more detailed analysis? Can you do that Airforcemet? Secondly can somebody tell me why they think there are so many questions in this thread? WHy is there a thread anyway?

Actually the GFS seems to stall an area of low pressure in the central GOM and then drives it NNE toward the FL Panhandle.
