But I agree, the internet is taking over. You can buy episodes online off iTunes so maybe that is the new future? I don't think Tv execs have really found a way to harness the internet's total potential and they're certainly going to have to if they want to continue.

I like the way CBS is offering their shows online -- available in many outlets: with ads at http://www.cbs.com and Joost and no ads at iTunes.com and Unbox (Amazon). It is consumer-friendly and friendly to other OSes, such Linux and OS X.

NBC is taking the opposite tack -- available for free on http://www.hulu.com and NBC.com. Commerical-laden, available for limited time, Windows-only downloads. They've pulled their stuff from iTunes, thus depriving Mac users the ability to purchase their shows. Yes, you can still purchase NBC episodes on Unbox (Amazon.com), but, again, Windows-only.

Yes, I'm pissed, because I was going to buy a season passes to Heroes and The Office. But whatever, if they don't want my money, I'll just go ahead and buy season passes to Jericho and Family Guy.

Desperate Housewives in 4 hours! :D

Lynette kicks Tom out of her chemotherapy sessions, Susan is mistaken for a stripper and Bree attempts to steal a prize-winning recipe.

The Susan stripper scene is HILARIOUS.

LOVED the opening scene.

I hate Edie.

Katherine is my new "person you love to hate". At least she's not annoying as hell like Nora.

This whole thing with Dylan is bizarre. So her father was out of her life most of the time?

Ooh... conflict at the Mayers! Loved Mike's "carry on" during that scene.

Susan, Susan, Susan, haha. Hilarious scenes. She was hot in that outfit.

Great dramatic scene between Lynette and Gaby.

WOW... Bree hears more than she bargained for.

What the heck? Carlos?!

I am really loving this season, I think this is the best first two episodes since Season 1.

Oh and Justin on Brothers and Sisters isn't dead. Promo misdirection!

I used to be intriqued when new families with deep, dark secrets to reveal moved in. Now technically this isn't a new family but I'm still not that interested in their story. Surprised I feel this way!

Absolutely loved seeing Mary Alice in another flashback.

But I am shocked at Carlos - I was just starting to root for a Gabby/Carlos reunion but then he goes and does that. I expected the hit man to be an undercover cop. He might be.....we'll see I guess. I expect Carlos to be back in jail in no time at this rate.

Tom looked haggered, as of course Lynette did. Did they ask Doug Savant to lose weight? I know first hand that cancer eafects more than just the patient and Tom is keeping that family afloat, kids to and from activities, etc. I thought Lynette and Tom's scene was believable. Expected not to feel sorry for Gabby when she revealed why she hated hospitals but again, I felt empathy for Gabby. That's saying something b/c when DH started, Gabby was my least favorite. I even liked Edie better (back then, what did I know? LOL).

Speaking of Edie - they need to ship her out of the neighborhood.

Susan and her pratfalls. Yawn.....once again, Julie has to admonish the mother here and display more common sense than Susan possesses!

Good episode, although nothing earth shattering happened. They managed to show each current cast member except for say Andrew and a few Scavo kids.

I think he hired him to move the money from the offshore account so Edie can't use it against him. I don't think he's a hitman.

and there will be PLENTY of Gablos coming up. Tonight it was not the main plot but it will be.

Brent my boy - I hope you are correct!

I just don't want to see the story go that way. And really, that thought should have occured to me too - they edit scenes or especially promos in such a way that you just assume one thing and quite another really takes place. Now I'm talking drivel but it really seemed like Carlos was talking about a hit out on her.

That just makes more sense. I thought to myself - Carlos has lost his mind here!

Whew....

I thought that when I first watched but I was very confused because it wasn't in any of the spoilers, but I knew the money would become an issue, so later after reading some other people's thoughts, I came around to that idea that it wasn't a hitman.

Honestly? I wish it was a hitman(just not Carlos behind it). I HATE what Edie has become...

NBC Picks Off Sunday Win
NFL game outscores ABC to grab top spot

October 8, 2007

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007

Brett Favre and Brian Griese were bigger draws than any of the "Desperate Housewives" Sunday night.

Thanks to its NFL coverage, NBC led Sunday's ratings with an 8.4 rating/14 share (with those numbers likely to change some because of the live game broadcast). ABC finished second at 7.8/13, holding off CBS, 7.6/12. FOX was well back at 3.7/6, and The CW made barely a blip at 0.9/2.

NBC also led among adults 18-49 with a 5.6 rating. ABC, 4.4, took second in the key demographic. FOX, 2.9, came in third, followed by CBS, 2.6, and The CW, 0.4.

Late-ending NFL games and "60 Minutes" averaged 7.4/13 for CBS at 7 p.m. The season premiere of "America's Funniest Home Videos," 5.1/9, put ABC in second. "Football Night in America" drew a 4.5/8 for NBC. Reruns of "King of the Hill" and "The Simpsons" averaged 2.8/5 for FOX. "CW Now" and "Online Nation" filled the hour for The CW.

"Sunday Night Football" (9.0/14), featuring Griese's Chicago Bears and Favre's Green Bay Packers, moved NBC to the top spot at 8 p.m. An extended "60 Minutes," 7.2/11, was second in households for CBS, but ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" had more viewers. FOX stayed in fourth with "The Simpsons," 4.3/7, and "King of the Hill," 3.5/5. The premiere of "Life Is Wild" on The CW managed only a 1.2/2.

At 9 p.m., "Desperate Housewives" scored an 11.1/17 for ABC, topping the 10.3/16 for NBC's NFL broadcast. "Cold Case," 8.3/13, took third for CBS. FOX went with "Family Guy," 4.9/7, and "American Dad," 3.9/6, and The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" rerun.

NBC regained the lead at 10 p.m. as "Sunday Night Football" posted a 9.8/16. ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," 8.2/14, beat out CBS' "Shark," 7.4/12, for second.

:roflmao:

As predicted, week two of idiotic ABC sitcom Cavemen came tumbling down, finishing fourth in the 8 p.m. half-hour with a mere 4.5 rating/7 share in the overnights. Comparably, that was down by a significant 31 percent from it’s week-ago debut (6.5/10 on Oct. 2, 2007). When a show loses this much steam in the second week you know the viewers did not like what they saw. I mean, how could they? Do you believe this nonsense?

Without the benefit of any lead-in support, week two of ABC’s Carpoolers also crashed, with a third-place 4.7/ 7 in the overnights at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that was down by 25 percent from its week-ago premiere (6.3/10 on Oct. 2).

“Bionic Woman”, “Journeyman” Could Already Be in Trouble‏
Posted by Sam on Wednesday, 10 Oct 2007

Written by: Michael Hickerson (SoSF Staff Journalist)

Two weeks into the fall-TV season and it feels like we’re getting repeats.

Not repeated episodes of the new fall crop of television shows, but repeats of the news surrounding the new genre-related shows. A report in this morning’s USA Today discusses several shows that could already be in ratings trouble, including NBC’s “The Bionic Woman” and “Journeyman.”

In their second weeks on the air, both shows suffered big drop-offs in the audience share. “The Bionic Woman” suffered a 26% drop-off in ratings from its premiere episode and some critics and experts exect the show to drop even more this week. USA Today’s television critic, Robert Bianco, slammed the show in this morning’s Critics Corner saying the show would be better served to drop all the characters it has and rebuild the series around Katie Sackoff.

“Journeyman” also suffered a drop in the ratings from the first to the second week. But it’s audience increased from the second to the third week, according to reports. However, NBC may not be pleased with the lack of audience retention from “Heroes” and speculation is already flying that the Peacock Network could pull “Journeyman” and replace it with “Medium” early next year. (”Medium” is scheduled to return on Sunday evenings once the NFL season if over, but as we all know, network strategies are never carved in stone).

And on the CW, “Reaper” may or may not in trouble. The show is generating the same audience share that “Veronica Mars” did in the same time-slot last year. Given the promotional push and critical acclaim this show has received, this could be good or bad news for the Kevin-Smith produced series.

We do have some good news for genre fans, though. CBS’s vampire series “Moonlight” only suffered a six percent decrease in audience share. Also, ABC has its eyes on the numbers for “Pushing Daisies.” After a strong debut last week, the Alphabet Network will be looking to see if the numbers drop in this week’s second showing of the quirky show. Last week’s numbers were the best ABC has received in the 8PM Wednesday time-slot since “Lost”’s first-season. NBC’s “Chuck” seems to be holding its own in a tough Monday time-slot.

Bionic Woman largely depends on tonight's ratings. It absolutely CANNOT drop another 25% like it did last week. IF it stabilizes however I expect it to get a full season order soon. Life also needs to do the same(though it's future is even less bright).

Journeyman is in major danger. I like the show but I don't think it's going to last. In fact, as a whole NBC Monday is not doing well. Chuck is just barely doing better than Journeyman and Heroes hit a series low(although this week it could have been due to the fact that baseball and a very highly-rated football game were on against it).

As for the other networks, Gossip Girl on The CW got a full season yesterday(don't ask me why). The first fall show to get that. I fully expect Private Practice to be next, certainly next week if not by this weekend. Also at ABC, Dirty Sexy Money is looking good. Big Shots will likely get pulled by November. Upon further review Cavemen and Carpoolers didn't do that horrible last night. IF they level off, I think they may stick around(especially Carpoolers), but it can't have another big drop. At CBS, Cane stabilized last night, so it may stick around for a little while(last year Smith aired 3 episodes and then was cancelled). At FOX, well nothing new is doing well. House has proven to be a powerhouse though, it beat DWTS Results again last night. I really think FOX may move it to another night this season. It certainly doesn't need Idol's help anymore.

Still to premiere:

ABC-Women's Murder Club(Friday), and Samantha Who?(Monday)
CBS-Viva Laughlin(next Thursday after CSI, then on Sunday)

Absolutely cannot wait for Pushing Daisies tonight! Hope the ratings hold up pretty well(though I'm sure they'll drop some). It aired in Canada last night and almost everyone said it was as good or better than the pilot. Also hoping Private Practice improves and really excited about Dirty Sexy Money.

Here's a good article about second week dropoffs and so far Moonlight, Dirty Sexy Money, and Chuck are the three that have dropped the least(none have gained). It also has last year's new shows and their dropoffs for comparison.

Pushing Daisies=OMG... this show is AMAZING! I love it.

Private Practice=Best episode yet. Not perfect, but a lot better.

Dirty Sexy Money=Awesome once again. I only wish we could have seen the sex tape. :P The catfight was hilarious.

Pushing Daisies is getting better. Still not reality or horribly exciting.

Private Practice was better.

Dirty Sexy Money was better. I agree with brent. That show needs a pg13-R rating ( not sure what its rated now)

Overall a good night for TV and for ABC.

From Variety:

NBC is showing some love to "Chuck," while CBS seems to be sticking by "Cane."

Peacock has asked the writers of spy dramedy "Chuck" to crank out three more scripts of the critical hit. Over at the Eye, net has ordered four more scripts for its Jimmy Smits sudser.

Several other skeins are likely to land script orders within the next 48 hours. The CW has already ordered a full season of frosh drama "Gossip Girl."

While no guarantee of a back nine order, asking for more scripts is often a precursor to a pickup. This year, nets are particularly eager to have scripts on hand due to the increasingly likely prospect of a WGA strike as early as next month.

I wish NBC had shown so much love towards Studio 60 last year but they didn't......sigh.

I am very pleased to know they are endorsing Chuck though. It's our #1 favorite new show of the season. My daughter's into Journeyman and Kid Nation too (I'm trying to get into both shows but it isn't easy!). Not like Chuck is, for some reason. The cast of Chuck mesh together like they've been together for a while now, not just a few episodes but at least an entire season. What I like most about Chuck is that it pokes fun at itself and doesn't take the premise too seriously. Once viewers know that, then you can enjoy losing yourself for an hour, as if it's okay not to take a show like this seriously. It's similar to going to Blockbuster and renting a movie with elements of Austin Powers, 40 Year Old Virgin and possibly Mission Impossible all rolled into one hour of drama. It just works!

Okay, there's my Chuck commentary....for what it's worth! LOL

Pushing Daisies had a steep drop... It still did pretty well, but it has to stop bleeding viewers. I knew it wouldn't be a massive hit.

Now the good news... Private Practice matched last week's numbers despite a much weaker lead-in. Dirty Sexy Money fell. :(

Bionic Woman fell a bit more but could be stabilizing. Not that great though...

Back to You is just another low-rated sitcom.

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007

CBS' veteran dramas carried the network to a ratings win Wednesday, while ABC's "Private Practice" managed to hang tough.

For the night, CBS averaged a 7.4 rating/12 share, beating out ABC's 7.0/11. NBC was not far behind, finishing third at 6.5/11. FOX, 4.1/7, took fourth, and The CW drew a 2.7/4.

ABC led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.9 rating. CBS, 3.3, came in second, edging NBC, 3.2. FOX averaged 2.6 and The CW 1.9.

"Deal or No Deal," 8.0/13, put NBC on top at 8 p.m. ABC's "Pushing Daisies" finished second at 6.6/11. "Kid Nation" finished third for CBS, beating out "Back to You," 4.0/7, and "'Til Death," 3.9/6, on FOX. "America's Next Top Model" earned a 3.5/6 for The CW.

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with "Criminal Minds," the night's most-watched show at 9.2/14. "Private Practice" drew an 8.2/13 for ABC, on par with its performance last week. "Bionic Woman" scored a 6.4/10 for NBC. FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares" delivered a 4.2/7, while The CW trailed with "Gossip Girl."

At 10 p.m., "CSI: NY" posted an 8.7/15 for CBS. ABC took second with "Dirty Sexy Money," 6.1/10, and "Life" came in at 5.3/9 for NBC.

Pushing Daisies is soooo good. I love it.

And Private Practice has proved itself worthy of continued watching.
