I'm not sure where to find specific links where he says it. But I remember him talking about his dad during the initial auditions. Here's a few blogs and quotes that talk about it:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6892084Scott Savol took the stage. The pride of Shaker Heights, a young man who said his dad had told him he was never going to be anything, Savol proved his father wrong and got the ticket to Hollywood.
http://www.realitytvcalendar.com/recaps ... 05-p1.htmlAfter the break and montage of bad singers, we meet twenty eight year old Scott Savol from Shaker Heights, OH. Scott tells the judges that his father has never supported him in anything he has done in his life. He says that since his father was a failure, he assumed his son would be as well. But Scott tells the judges he is his own man and he is here to prove him wrong. He sings Superstar and does a great job. He has a very smooth, powerful voice, and also interacts well with the judges. Simon says he liked his voice, but once again brings up image. Simon says that Scott just doesn't look like an American Idol. LL tells Scott that the others will never see him coming, and that he loved his voice. Scott gets yes's from all the judges, and is off to Hollywood.
http://pnaydramaqueen.blogspot.com/Scott has a great voice, is never off-key and one can see that he actually tries harder to please the judges. Man, he even got Simon Cowell to tell him that he had a good performance after weeks of being told that he wasn't good enough. Hay. I do hope he goes far and prove his father wrong. It broke my heart when I learned that his father told him that he can't sing and would never be anything. Hey Scott's Dad! Your son could definitely sing! And he will amount to something!
