I do have an extended family here; however, there is no comparison to my family back home. Yes, my days here in Qatar quickly ending; however, the mission no where near finished. In these final days, our concentration must stay as sharp as our first day here. The end will come soon enough, surprisingly, when I least expect it. Amazingly, December has cruised by like one of our weekly sandstorms. Half the time, I didn’t know one day from the next.
As this remembrance holiday approaches, our General Mitchell family understands the best Holiday present in the word tis not a present, but is the safe, stateside arrival of 79 (including myself) soldiers. Our deployment will end shortly there after our return. Yes, I did say end of our deployment. I cannot believe that this deployment will soon to be a memory; a memory we will never forget.
No matter where I am, what my career turns out to be, I am constantly reminded of the strongest word in the English Language – Love. Love most significantly, brings us together especially during the Holiday season.
Soon.
Share the Peace.
Shannon
