Shannon Says Hi

#1 Postby pojo » Sat Dec 24, 2005 11:50 am

I wanted to write something this Christmas to remind people that the homemade memories have not been forgotten. Currently as I type this, I am reminded of the sacrifices I’ve made in my life to make me the person I am. Right now, being home, spending time with my family is something I direly miss; the laughter, our (meshing) personalities, and most importantly the love we have between each other. Yes dork (Chad), I do admit, you are loved.

I do have an extended family here; however, there is no comparison to my family back home. Yes, my days here in Qatar quickly ending; however, the mission no where near finished. In these final days, our concentration must stay as sharp as our first day here. The end will come soon enough, surprisingly, when I least expect it. Amazingly, December has cruised by like one of our weekly sandstorms. Half the time, I didn’t know one day from the next.

As this remembrance holiday approaches, our General Mitchell family understands the best Holiday present in the word tis not a present, but is the safe, stateside arrival of 79 (including myself) soldiers. Our deployment will end shortly there after our return. Yes, I did say end of our deployment. I cannot believe that this deployment will soon to be a memory; a memory we will never forget.

No matter where I am, what my career turns out to be, I am constantly reminded of the strongest word in the English Language – Love. Love most significantly, brings us together especially during the Holiday season.

Soon.

Share the Peace.

Shannon :)

"Ho, Ho, Hooo!" Merry Christmas to YOU too!

Yeah, I remember that first Christmas away from home when I was serving my country, Adak Alaska.......it was TOUGH to say the least but ya know what? I GREW from that experience and it makes you REALLY APPRECIATE what you have when you get home. We Americans take SO much for granted!

Take care kiddo, keep your chin up and we'll see ya SOON!
