Also, as a sidenote, of those 195015 customers (Now 195018), 109773 of those customers are from Hidalgo County.

Also, the tornado warning has been lifted east of San Antonio.

My parents are in Weslaco, Hidalgo Cty.

No power since 4 pm Wed., no water since about the same time. Hidalgo residents are urged not to flush toilets, shower, etc. 911 service is out, residents urged to only call local police in case of life and death emergencies.

Their phone (landline) never went out, thank goodness, and they know of no windows broken at their large retirement building. Their car (outside) was luckily untouched. They know that if they were 20 miles further north or east, it might have been different.

AEP (electric) says this morning estimates are 2-7 days to get power back up.

Flooding is a major issue, people are still being asked to stay off the roads. HEB stores (grocery) are assessing damage and which stores will be given generators from a Weslaco distribution area so they can reopen. They intend to have gas pumps up at those stores as well.

You try and warn people as much as you can, but most will simply not learn until they have to go through this. I'm just glad they learned with a (mostly) Cat 1 and not a Cat 5.

Possible Tornado Touches Down in S.A.

The storms that moved through San Antonio Thursday morning caused major damage to an area on the near South Side.

A large amount of debris is on the ground near the 900 block of Steves Avenue, near Roosevelt. A News 4 crew at the scene is reporting a Whataburger restaurant had part of it's roof torn off. Another nearby business, Kiki's Ice House also sustained heavy damage.

News 4's Ryan O'Donnell is at the scene. He's reporting that witnesses said heard a loud noise around 9:30 a.m. and saw debris flying through the air. Ryan said power lines are down. CPS Energy estimates about 1500 homes are without power in the area. Some witnesses said they saw a funnel cloud touch down and then jump back up.

Terry's Friendly Spot near the intersection of Steves and Roosevelt also sustained heavy damage. Owner Terry Rodriguez said part of her roof is gone, her A/C unit is missing, and she has debris from nearby businesses inside her bar.

One witness told News 4 she and a friend were in a truck, waiting at a red light at Mitchell and Roosevelt, when they say a dark funnel cloud. The woman said debris was flying everywhere around them and their truck started rocking back and forth as the cloud passed by them.

Witnesses at Atlas Towing in the 500 block of Steves told News 4 they lost a canopy from their lot and that the hoods of some of the cars on their lot flew open and at least one was ripped off. They also reported trees were down all around their business.

City officials said they have not confirmed that the damage was caused by a tornado. They are calling it a "high wind event" at this point.

A shelter has been set up at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church at 118 Lowell for those who have sustained damage or lost power.

No injuries have been reported.

I had to laugh the other day when a TWC OCM mentioned that "the Rio Grande separates Mexico and Texas"!

I"m sure she meant well, but, you'd hope that everyone already knows that...

Anyway, Dolly is heading westward, towards the Streets of Laredo (I think that was part of the "Lonesome Dove" series of movies)...

Why is the floater gone for Dolly?

I'm confused why some texts and readings state that Hurricane Dolly originated from a tropical wave when I remember it was from the ITCZ. Was it both?

The ITCZ is like a train track. Tropical waves are the trains. Dolly formed from a tropical wave.

I don't mean to be inflammatory but that could be really offensive.

On the normally weaker left side of the storm no less...but the strongest winds on the right side would have been in no man's land...
