Land issues as well, they would be flying near or over some of the islands. Not sure if this is a factor or not.

So...43*0.9 = 38.7 knots at the surface. 38.7*1.151 = 44.5437 mph, or 45 mph tropical storm.

It's not all that far the Key West (Boca Chico NAS and EWY) from the Bahamas. I saw several occasions while living down there where C-130's refueled before heading home to Keesler.
