Convection looking better today though the LLC is displaced to the west of the convection due to some westerly shear. I am surprised NHC is only giving this a 20-40% chance especially since the trough will pull out in 48 hours and some ridging will build in which should allow for upper-level winds to relax some. I think development chances needs to be raised as I feel this is on it's way to developing. Again development will be slow and gradual but I think in the end this gets named.

RAL update though I think it is stationary and just drifting at the moment when I look at the vis loop below where RAL puts the center:

At 1200 UTC, 07 September 2013, LOW GABRIELLE (AL07) was located in the North Atlantic basin at 22.8°N and 69.2°W. The current intensity was 25 kt and the center was moving at 8 kt at a bearing of 350 degrees. The minimum central pressure was 1009 mb.

Looks pretty good on visible and decent on IR; has a sheared structure but hard to see how Gabby does not redevelop.

I read in a different thread that the recon didn't take off until 3.... if that's true they haven't got there yet.

Recon isn't flying until 21Z. There some P-3 research missions measuring the large-scale environment with the possible regeneration. These planes are generally flying at 7000 ft or higher.

They found 1009mb, but it's sloppy in there still. Definitely battling the shear...
