Never mind I googled it.

Yes there is a mountain range right along the north coast there with peaks to 1500ft.

I wonder if this is causing an eddy to form close to the coast and it is disrupting the wind flow around the more northern center.

I did see the strongest winds were NE of the ?center, at 33 knots.

I believe not so much. Looks flat in GE, and mountain ranges are far east.

I can not spot a center on the last visible frames but I believe it is under heavy convection now.

Here's the Cancun radar via Accuweather. I'm not liking this at all.

recon flew through another vort to the SW of the previous pass with no VDM. they are rotating around each other. maybe this deep convection will help solidify something.

And I would think it would have to be if it is going to survive and continue to develop... sure looks that way to me.. if this comes to fruition, being more SW I would think it would definitely have an effect on future forecasts, perhaps more towards the western FL Panhandle... premature speculation only on my part however... gotta get more recon...

Just at sunset it looked like the naked vort took a jog west, like maybe it was getting caught up in the wider circulation as a future eddy.

Looking better and less sheared, perhaps an anticyclone is building over top:

Just took a look at the loops for the first time today and it still looks the same to me. Displaced mid level circulation with the low level circulation a little to the north and west. But, still looks like it's on the predicted track imo.
