Yes, precisely what I was thinking. It's unusual for them to come out with an advisory so close to the actual hour.

What are the odds though? The plane was just miles short of making it's first pass into the system, and maintenance problems? Well, more importantly I hope there's no major problems with the plane (or crew). Curious whether they'll fly back to Biloxi or to a nearer airport (P.R. or Miami?)

Any spin is well west of the actual convection--could the shear be increasing due to the storm-relative LLC being north of where the models had assumed it would be?

Still no 2pmPDT advisory for Howard, could they be debating to upgrade 97L?

Doubtful, as we didn't get confirmation one way or the other as to whether it's closed.

New microwave image shows that if it is closed it is well removed from the deep convection/MLC.

Low level jet is still in control of the system, its fast track is creating its own windshear.

It likely peaked earlier and I'm still not entirely sold that it'll ever develop to start with, especially since whatever low is there is farther north (and in a higher shear environment) than the models were showing when development was indicated. And being further north, disruption from land is more likely as well.
