8:55Z is 4:55 or 5am EDT. Those maps aren't updating for some reason. Currently 14:38Z

I know, maybe convection is waning a bit, but the general the low level broad circulation is there and looks pretty good IMO.

Looks like it was building something before the dry air destroyed the core

I’m not sure how reliable large-scale model forecasts a week out are when there are multiple recurving typhoons that can alter the downstream pattern, but either way, 96L’s odds of development — or really any deep tropics development for the rest of the year at this rate — are low.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

A good deal of rain is expected here in Puerto Rico.

Fwiw, yesterday's 12Z JMA gave the Virgin Islands to PR 6-7" of rain from this as just a TD! A big reason for that is the very slow movement it predicted once past the Leewards.

Luis,
Today's 12Z JMA, just like yesterday's, gives PR 6-7" of rain from this.
