I'm trying to remember my history, but wasn't there a city in the Caribbean that was destroyed by a earthquake back in the 16th or 17 century.

Yes,it was the city of "Port Royal" in Jamaica,june the 7th of 1692;quake+ tsunami:2000dead.This city was build partly over the front sea.
